Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them. Heb 11:16 (KJV) 16But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city. | | The blessed are said to "sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob," and to be "in Abraham's bosom" (Luke 16:22; Matt. 8:11); to "reign with Christ" (2 Tim. 2:12); and to enjoy "rest" (Heb. 4:10, 11) Luke 16:22 22"The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. Heb 4:10-11 (KJV) 10For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. 11Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. | In heaven the blessedness of the righteous consists in the possession of "life everlasting," "an eternal weight of glory" (2 Cor. 4:17), an exemption from all sufferings for ever, a deliverance from all evils (2 Cor. 5:1, 2) and from the society of the wicked (2 Tim. 4:18), bliss without termination, the "fulness of joy" for ever (Luke 20:36; 2 Cor. 4:16, 18; 1 Pet. 1:4; 5:10; 1 John 3:2). To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen. 2 Tim 4:18 (KJV) 18And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. | | bliss without termination, the "fullness of joy" for ever Luke 20:36 36and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels. They are God's children, since they are children of the resurrection. 2 Cor 4:16,18 16Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 18So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 1 Pet 1:4 4and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, 1 Pet 5:10 10And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 1 John 3:2 2Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known.
